The online rice planthopper monitoring device is an intelligent crop protection tool designed for rice cultivation. Utilizing optoelectronic and digital control technologies, it enables unattended operation, automatically handling the trapping, extermination, and counting of rice planthoppers, as well as data uploading. By integrating environmental monitoring data, it supports precise pest surveillance and scientific control measures in the field.

Rice planthoppers are a prevalent pest in rice cultivation, affecting plant growth primarily by piercing and sucking sap from stems and leaves. Infestations can range from weakening the crop to causing significant yield losses, making them a key target for monitoring and control in rice plant protection. Traditional surveillance methods rely on manual inspections and counts, which suffer from issues such as infrequent monitoring, data lag, high labor costs, and significant statistical errors—shortcomings that fail to meet the needs of large-scale, modernized rice farming. The application of the online rice planthopper monitoring device effectively resolves these limitations.

Developed and manufactured in strict accordance with the industry standard GB/T 24689.1-2009 (Plant Protection Machinery – Pest Monitoring Lamp), the device features a powder-coated stainless steel housing. It is highly adaptable to field environments and capable of stable, long-term outdoor operation in rice paddies. Integrating core modern optical, electrical, and digital control technologies, the device employs a high-power, multi-wavelength light source to precisely attract rice planthoppers. It utilizes a dual-layer far-infrared processing chamber to exterminate and dry the insects, achieving a mortality rate of at least 98% and an insect body integrity rate of at least 95%, thereby ensuring the accuracy of subsequent monitoring statistics.

The device supports fully automated, unattended operation, autonomously performing the entire workflow: attracting and killing insects, spreading specimens flat, capturing images, automatically clearing debris, and managing drainage and storage. Equipped with high-definition imaging hardware and a grating-based counting system, it tallies pest numbers in real-time without human intervention. It also features a 7-inch Chinese-language touchscreen that supports intelligent, time-based scheduling, ensuring ease of use. The device is equipped with dual GPS and BeiDou positioning capabilities, allowing all monitoring data and operational parameters to be uploaded to a remote platform in real time via a 4G network.

Furthermore, the rice planthopper online monitoring and forecasting system supports the integration of environmental sensors—such as those for wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, and light intensity—to simultaneously collect field environmental data. This enables the creation of correlation models between pest activity and environmental factors, facilitating precise analysis of rice planthopper infestation patterns. Farmers can manage device functions and view pest data in real time through the remote platform, allowing them to anticipate outbreak trends and implement targeted control measures. This approach reduces the indiscriminate use of pesticides, balances stable rice yields with the protection of the paddy ecosystem, and is widely applicable to large-scale rice cultivation sites.
