Automatic Soil Monitoring System: Enhancing Agricultural Productivity through Real-Time Data Analytics

The Automatic Soil Monitoring System is a core facility of modern precision agriculture. Through real-time, multi-dimensional soil data collection, it transforms agricultural production from a traditional model relying on empirical judgment to a data-driven precision management model.

It can not only monitor soil moisture content in real-time but also simultaneously measure key indicators such as soil temperature, electrical conductivity (salinity), and pH value. These parameters do not exist in isolation but are interrelated: soil temperature affects microbial activity and seed germination, electrical conductivity reflects salinity conditions to prevent crop salt stress, and pH value relates to nutrient availability. By simultaneously monitoring these indicators, the system can comprehensively assess soil health conditions.

The monitoring station adopts a layered measurement design, supporting multi-layer profile monitoring from the surface layer to deep layers (e.g., 0-100 cm). This design can accurately grasp the changes in soil moisture at different root depths during various crop growth stages, providing three-dimensional data for irrigation decisions.

The monitoring station integrates IoT technology, uploading data to the cloud platform in real-time through multiple transmission methods such as GPRS, Bluetooth, and LoRa. Users can remotely view dynamic change curves of soil moisture through mobile APPs or computer browsers, achieving a management model of "controlling the field without leaving home."

The system has an intelligent early warning function that can set soil moisture thresholds according to crop water requirements. When monitoring data exceeds the normal range, the system will automatically trigger warnings through SMS and other methods, prompting farmers to take timely irrigation measures.

When the system detects that soil moisture is below the suitable range for crop growth, it can automatically trigger the irrigation system, achieving integrated water and fertilizer management with on-demand water supply.
