Soil moisture is a physical quantity representing the dryness or wetness of a certain depth of soil layer, directly affecting crop water supply, root growth, and various physiological activities. Too low soil moisture causes drought, inhibits photosynthesis, and leads to reduced yields; too high soil moisture deteriorates soil aeration, affects root respiration, and may even cause diseases.

The widely used gravimetric method in early days was cumbersome, time-consuming, and unable to provide real-time monitoring. With the development of electronic technology, resistive and capacitive soil moisture meters emerged. Among them, capacitive moisture meters determine moisture by measuring soil dielectric constant, which is less affected by soil properties and has high accuracy, making it a commonly used tool.

Modern intelligent Soil moisture weather stations integrate wireless transmission, data storage and analysis functions, and can link with automatic irrigation systems, greatly improving the efficiency and precision of agricultural production. Meanwhile, the emergence of technologies such as multi-depth soil moisture monitoring has enabled simultaneous measurement of moisture in different soil layers.

The FT-TS400 Soil moisture weather station is a highly integrated, low-power consumption, quickly installable, and easy-to-use high-precision automatic weather observation device for field monitoring.

The device monitors soil moisture content and soil temperature, measuring soil volumetric water content (VWC) and temperature values through moisture sensors and temperature sensors. The standard configuration supports four layers of soil temperature and moisture sensors, enabling one-time acquisition of profile data at different depths.

According to user needs, the FT-TS400 can be expanded to configure multiple meteorological sensors such as soil electrical conductivity, soil pH, air temperature, air humidity, solar radiation, and rainfall to meet diverse monitoring requirements.

The device adopts a solar panel top cover embedded design, combined with an MPPT automatic power point tracking charge controller, providing guarantee for long-term field work. It supports multiple transmission methods such as wired, GPRS, and Bluetooth, adapting to different field communication conditions.

The FT-TS400 is equipped with a 7-inch Android screen for local operation and has an SMS alarm function, which can automatically send alerts to designated mobile phones when monitoring data exceeds limits. Data can be received, viewed, and analyzed through PC software, Android APP, and cloud platform.
